Alixandria Gavin competed in the 2013 Deaflympics at 14 years old. She won 6 medals and earned the Youth Swimmer Award at the 2014 World Deaf Swimming Championships. She set new records in 100m and 50m Breaststroke.  I’ve been swimming competitively since I was five years old. At 14, I was the youngest swimmer on the team when I competed in the 2013 Summer Deaflympics in Sofia, Bulgaria. I went on to win 6 medals at the 2014 World Deaf Championships, and set new records in the 100m and 50m breaststrokes. My overall experience with USADSF has been great! And I plan on staying with them for as long as I can. I was raised as an oral deaf child, and being involved with deaf culture has always amazed me & motivated me to learn sign language so I can communicate with them as well as my hearing peers. The USADSF brings all of us together to support deaf athletes, and represents our amazing deaf community to other deaf communities around the world. Through sports, deaf athletes help gain positive recognition for the deaf community.
