Craig Rot appointed for USA Deaf Team Handball Coach

USA Deaf Sports Federation is pleased to announce the appointment of Craig Rot as the new coach for the Men's USA Deaf Team Handball. Craig Rot brings a strong experience in handball at many different levels.  Craig holds seven years of domestic and international team handball tournament experience, both as a player and as a coach, and has won numerous medals in both positions, including a silver medal at the 2014 IHF Trophy Cup in Puerto Rico, and a Final Four appearance at the 2015 Partille Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden. Craig graduated Summa Cum Laude in English and Sport Management from the University of Minnesota. Craig is presently working on his Level 2 USATH Coaching Certification, and will be taking Master Courses in Europe beginning this fall. He has conducted two national pilot programs for USATH, the first in 2012-13, was a research project through University of Minnesota’s Kinesiology Department (School of Sport Management) that created a supplementary guidebook for Mini-Handball coaching in the United States. The second, last spring, continued this line of research, testing the program for middle schools, and will be presented this November at the IAPEHD convention for Illinois PE educators. Craig is the first and only American lecturer on the International Handball Federation’s Commission on Coaching and Methods and presented his work at the 2015 IHF Men’s World Championships in January in Doha, Qatar. A resident of Barrington, Illinois, Craig and his wife, Betsy, have three boys.
