ICSD Honors Carli Cronk with the 2022 Sportswoman of the Year Award

LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND—The International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) yesterday announced that 17-year old American swimmer Carli Cronk has been named the 2022 ICSD Sportswoman of the Year Award. The Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year awards comprise the ICSD’s highest recognition for “exemplary sport achievements” by a deaf female athlete and a deaf male athlete.

Ralph Fernandez Joins ICSD Secretariat

The International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) announced on Saturday February 4 that Ralph Fernandez has been selected to join the ICSD Secretariat as an International Sports Director to assist with the organization of ICSD-sanctioned events. With this move, Fernandez departs his Member at Large post on the USADSF Board of Directors.

The United States Deaf Skiers & Snowboarders Association is pleased to announce Deaf WinterFest 2023, featuring a 7‐day ski and snowboard week with activities, evening programs and more! The event will take place from February 27th to March 5th, 2023 at Heavenly Valley, South Lake Tahoe, CA. *50 % of all proceeds goes to the events and USA Deaflympics Ski & Snowboard Team 2023.

Team USA Celebrates its Medals and Wins on the Fourth Day of the Deaflympics

CAXIAS DO SUL, BRAZIL — The fourth day of the Deaflympics was full of wins and medals for the United States. For the first time in American history, the United States was represented in Judo. International level Judoka Nina Cutro-Kelly made her Deaflympic debut in the +78kg category, and captured the hearts of American fans who showed up to cheer her on.

Team USA Wins 5 Medals on the First Day of Competition

CAXIAS DO SUL, BRAZIL — In the first full day of competition, Team USA swimmer Carli Cronk won her heat in the Women’s 200m Individual Medley preliminary two separate times after the officials’ timers malfunctioned during the first heat. Competing in the finals later in the day, she exhibited mental toughness despite having to swim twice earlier in the morning, and went on to win her first-ever Deaflympic Gold in record-breaking fashion.
