Russia chosen as site of 2015 Winter Deaflympics

15 January 2014 USADSF Staff In a joint announcement made today by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf and the Russian Committee of Deaf Sports, the Russia Federation has agreed to host the 15th Winter Deaflympics 2015 in the city of Khanty-Mansiysk.

Dr. Valery Rukhledev, the ICSD President and Natalia Komarova, the Governor of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area-Yugra made presentations to the government and won approval to host the Deaflympics.

Games will take place from February 27 to March 7, 2015, in five winter sports: cross-country skiing, snowboard, curling, alpine skiing and ice hockey. All the venues are located in Khanty-Mansiysk with the exception of Alpine Skiing.

Khanty-Maniysk is one of the cities that is part of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics and several of the events in the February Winter Olympics will be used by the Winter Deaflympics next year.
