USA Deaf Swimming to Offer Swim Camp at Olivet Nazarene University June 2016

Olivet Nazarene University's (ONU) Swim Program is partnering with USA Deaf Swimming (USADS) to offer a unique, perhaps life-changing experience for all deaf and hard of hearing children. Deaf swimmers will have a growth opportunity to enhance his/her swimming technique with instruction and encouragement in all four strokes. All activities will be led by Scott Teeters (ONU Head Coach), Samantha Elam (ONU grad, Deaf American and World record holder) and Peggy Liang (former Division I athlete, University of Hawaii at Manoa). The Olivet Nazarene University Swim camp is open to all swimmers, ages 8-17, with an eagerness to learn. The goal of this camp is to help each swimmer gain confidence and improve his or her skills. ONU is proud to offer the same championship coaching to your swimmer that propelled the ONU teams to the 2016 National Championship. This camp is designed to adapt and enhance the techniques to meet your young athlete’s needs, instead of a “one size fits all” methodology. Swimmers are taught with a curriculum that explains the proper biomechanics of the four competitive strokes, as well as starts and turns. The method of instruction will be adapted based on the individual variables that each swimmer brings. The Instructional program is designed to serve all levels of competitive swimmers: • Small camper to coach ratio • Daily lectures, demonstrations and drills • Daily underwater videotaping of swimmers’ strokes, turns and starts • Daily instructional videos from various Olympians and World Champions • Dryland exercises introduced • Supervised recreational activities Cost: $450 residents/$325 commuter Date: June 20-24, 2016 Where: Olivet Nazarene University One University Avenue Bourbonnais, IL 60914 Contact either Scott Teeters spteeters@olivet.edu 815.928.5419 or Samantha Elam spelam@olivet.edu 815.928.5685 to Register TODAY!
