February 20, 2015 Indianapolis, IN - The U.S.A. Deaf Volleyball Youth Program finalized its 9-player roster that will be used for the Volleyball Festival set for June 26-28, 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona. The USA Deaf Volleyball staff selected middle hitters Adele Daniels (Frederick, Md./Maryland SD), Shua Clay (Pembroke Pines, Fl./Florida SD) and Megan Lockner (Orlando, Fl./Florida SD). Outside/opposites hitters selected for the U-18 roster are Raelyn Fuechtmann (South St. Paul, Mn./Indiana SD), Jamilee Hoglind(Fishers, In./Indiana SD), Karita Lewis (Frederick, Md./Maryland SD) and Alana Smith (Riverside, Ca./California SD, Riverside). The setter in this exclusive group is Brooke Bonheyo (Frederick, Md./Maryland SD). The defense will be anchored by libero Isabella Paulone (Fishers, In./Indiana SD.) Members of the U-18 squad are familiar with each other, having played together at the Deaf Elite Volleyball Camp last summer. Many of these players also faced each other last fall in interscholastic play. Ann Whited returns as head coach of the U-18 squad. Whited is fresh off a successful campaign as graduate assistant of the NCAA Division 3 Gallaudet University volleyball team that won the 2014 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship. Whited will be assisted by Dyan Kovacs, a three-time Deaflympian who brings a wealth of collegiate and international experience to the staff.
