John Skjeveland Joins USADSF Board as Treasurer




John Skjeveland, a long-time member of the US Deaf Cycling Association (USDCA) until recently stepping down from his role with USDCA, has joined the USA Deaf Sports Federation Board of Directors as Treasurer. Currently the University Controller at Gallaudet University, John brings over 30 years of experience managing finance and operations across various organizations, from small non-profits to entities with up to 198 departments and 27 locations.

As a Certified Public Accountant, John's career has predominantly been within the non-profit and educational sectors, where he has consistently demonstrated high integrity and a commitment to efficiency in financial and resource management. Previously, John was the Executive Director of Operations at the Clerc Center, the CFO at the Indiana School for the Deaf and Communication Services for the Deaf (CSD).


John also brings extensive experience in every level of deaf sports, ranging from serving at the National Sports Organization for cycling, being the Board Treasurer for the Organizing Committee of the 2007 Winter Deaflympics in Salt Lake City, led the recovery of finances for the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD)/Deaflympics as an accountant and supported the accounting function for USADSF alongside the late Cole Zulauf for a number of years.

Skjeveland will join the USADSF for the remainder of the current term, which expires sixty days following the 2025 Summer Deaflympics, at which point Skjeveland may seek to renew his position. "We are delighted to bring someone of John's expertise and caliber into the fold at USADSF," remarked USADSF President Jeffrey Mansfield, adding, "I am confident that John's presence on our board will have an invaluable impact on our ability to deliver top-quality sports environments for Deaf and Hard of Hearing athletes."
