WASHINGTON, D.C. – In front of a packed Field House on the campus of Gallaudet University, the USA (1) Women's squad of Sabina Shysh, Emelia Beldon, Hannah Neild, and Cassidy Perry proved their standing as the world's best with a thrilling 17-15 victory over Ukraine at the DIBF 3x3 World Cup.
Meanwhile, on the Men's side, the USA (1) squad of Orion Palmer, Jon Mowl, Andy Cruz, and Keanu Boren came out of a 19-team gauntlet of a tournament with a Bronze medal to show for their effort. The USA (2) Men's squad of Robert Haney, Stuart Jones, Shawn Daniels, and Joshua James, also finished with a respectable fifth-place finish after their narrow quarterfinal loss to the eventual champions, Poland.
USA (2) Women's squad of Easter Faafiti, Darriyan Thomas, Jakkisha Smith, Tonisha Green, also finished in the seventh place after a tightly contested tournament that saw a total of 11 women's teams represented.
On the whole, the tournament saw thirty teams take part, demonstrating that the 3x3 format is rapidly growing in popularity and quality. The international tournament had been relocated from Argentina to Gallaudet with less than one year to plan for the event, but the event, which took place from December 10 to 14, 2024, proved to be a success.
