The Men’s semifinals showdown was a tough battle against Turkiye as the Americans opened strong and caught Turkiye’s team off guard with momentum-generating blocks to claim the first set 25-23.
Despite the initial success, the Americans were not able to match the intensity that the experienced Turkiye team brought in the second set. They took the set 14-25.
As always, the young American squad responded in the 3rd set, which saw the Stars and Stripes go head to head with Turkiye, but once again, experience proved to be the difference. Turkiye was able to clamp down and close out the set 23-25.
Turkiye continued to roll in the 4th set and the US were not able to keep up with their middles, losing the set 16-25.
Somewhat similar from the men's first match, the Americans showed flashes of potential but were not able to piece everything together for a complete game.
In the Bronze Medal match the following day, the Americans fell to Ukraine to narrowly miss a medal. The Americans will now set sights on the 2025 Summer Deaflympics, which will take place in Japan, this time in Tokyo.
