It is with sincere regret that the USA Deaf Sports Federation and the US Deaf Ski Snowboard Association (USDSSA) announce cancellation of the World Deaf Snowboard Championships 2026.Â
The event, which had been scheduled to take place from March 27 to April 2, 2026 in Copper Mountain, Colorado, was envisioned on the concept that we would host the World Deaf Snowboard Championships in partnership with the support of the USA Snowboard and Free Ski Association (USASA) as a parallel event within USASA’s annual championships event.
However, recent circumstances beyond our control have made it clear that it would no longer be possible to hold the World Deaf Snowboard Championships 2026 as originally envisioned. The USADSF and USDSSA had been in constant communication with the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) as these discussions unfolded. Earlier this month, the USADSF and USDSSA informed the ICSD Executive Board of our intent to cancel the event. Today, the ICSD Executive Board informed the USADSF that this decision had been approved.
While we are disappointed by this outcome, we are hopeful that the Deaf Sports world will join us in turning our attention to the 2027 Winter Deaflympics in Innsbruck, Austria.
